Ukrainian ambassador, UK foreign secretary discuss security, energy support for Ukraine
Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, has discussed the security situation in Ukraine and the protection of Ukrainian energy infrastructure with UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper.
According to Ukrinform, the Ukrainian diplomat said this in a post this on Telegram.
"I held a meeting with the UK Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, Yvette Cooper. We reaffirmed the strategic nature of our relations and the continued development of cooperation between our countries," Zaluzhnyi wrote.
He noted that as the talks took place amid ongoing Russian strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, this was an opportunity to convey information about the challenges Ukraine is facing today and to emphasize the role of international solidarity in ensuring the resilience of critical infrastructure.
"The support of our partners remains vital for Ukraine's energy sector during this extremely difficult winter," the ambassador said.
Zaluzhnyi also stressed that during the meeting the sides discussed the security situation, prospects for a just peace between Ukraine and Russia, as well as further coordination with international allies to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities.
