FM Sybiha announced holding of “Energy Ramstein”
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with the Ministry of Energy, is convening an “Energy Ramstein” meeting with the aim of attracting maximum support from Ukraine's international partners.
According to Ukrinform, the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry announced this on Facebook.
“The difficult situation in the energy sector due to Russian shelling — we are seeking increased support from our partners,” the post says.
According to Sybiha, “in accordance with the instructions of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the Foreign Ministry is working with all our partners to attract additional contributions to strengthen the energy sector.”
“This week, we already have a large package of USD 200 million from Norway for the purchase of gas and equipment,” the minister said, expressing his gratitude to the Norwegians.
He announced that new bilateral energy support packages from other partners would be coming soon. According to him, “there will be news on this front tomorrow.”
“Additional bilateral packages to support air defense capabilities are also on the way. There will also be new announcements tomorrow,” Sybiha said.
In his opinion, “the best help for Ukraine's energy system is every Russian missile and drone that does not reach its target.”
“On the instructions of Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko, together with the Ministry of Energy, we are convening an Energy Ramstein meeting, at which we expect to receive additional contributions and specific commitments from our allies,” the foreign minister said.
He emphasized: “We are in constant contact with the European Energy Community regarding the replenishment of the Ukraine Energy Support Fund and the purchase of equipment at the expense of the fund.”
According to Sybiha, Italy has already begun delivering high-power industrial boilers (from 550 to 3000 KW) worth a total of EUR 1.85 million, which will help the communities that have suffered the most.
“We are also using all international mechanisms. The EU Civil Protection Mechanism. The Energy Charter. Other international organizations,” the minister said.
He also said that all foreign diplomatic missions have been instructed to mobilize as much donor support as possible for targeted assistance to the most affected regions and communities, in particular with energy equipment.
"We are working at an emergency pace and in emergency mode to attract maximum support from our partners in overcoming Russia's winter terror and supporting our energy workers. They are heroes who are now doing the impossible — this is recognized by our international partners and the whole world. On behalf of Ukrainian diplomats, I sincerely thank all Ukrainian energy workers for their dedicated work — it is no coincidence that our professional days fall on the same date, December 22," Sybiha said.
As the head of the Foreign Ministry noted, “today, our energy repair crews and all the specialists who are overcoming the consequences of the attacks are heroes who are fighting against Russian terror. We must support them with all our might and go through this difficult time together.”
“Russia will not only fail in its plans to break the spirit of Ukrainians with cold and terror. We will definitely bring Russian criminals to justice for genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity — because that is how the current actions of the Russian Federation are classified in international criminal law,” Sybiha concluded.
As reported by Ukrinform, Volodymyr Zelensky instructed the government to immediately ensure all necessary decisions to simplify and increase electricity imports by state-owned companies and the private sector.
