Court allows Shufrych to be released on UAH 33M bail – media

The Kyiv Court of Appeal has changed the preventive measure for MP Nestor Shufrych of the OPZZh party, who is charged with high treason, from detention without the option of bail to detention with the possibility of release on bail in the amount of UAH 33.28 million.

The decision was made by a panel of judges on January 6, Shufrych's lawyer Viktor Karpenko told this to Telegraf in a comment.

"There is a ruling of the Kyiv Court of Appeal dated January 6. Indeed, a decision was made to add an alternative to the preventive measure of detention in the form of bail in the amount of UAH 33 million 280 thousand. Once the client posts this money, he has the right to be released on bail," the lawyer said.

According to Karpenko, the defense does not yet know when exactly the bail will be posted or whether it will be posted at all.

"This happened on Tuesday, and the amount is not small," the lawyer added.
