Meloni calls Trump’s new strategy “wake-up call” for Europe
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has described U.S. President Donald Trump’s new national security strategy as a “wake-up call” for Europe.
According to Ukrinform, Bloomberg reported this.
“Giorgia Meloni cast US President Donald Trump’s new national security strategy as a wake-up call for Europe,” the report said.
In her view, President Trump’s strategy clearly points to Washington’s intention “to disengage from the old continent.”
The Italian Prime Minister also confirmed the unity of her governing coalition despite internal disputes, including those over assistance to Ukraine.
“We want an Italy that is loyal to its partners but is subject to nobody,” Meloni said.
“It’s why we’ve stood with Ukraine from day one,” Meloni stressed. “And it’s why we will continue doing so – for a sense of justice but most of all to defend our national interest and security,” she added.
As reported, today in the Italian capital President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held an audience with Pope Leo XIV and met with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
