Zelensky praises constructive talks with Trump
President Volodymyr Zelensky described his talks with U.S. President Donald Trump in New York as “very good and constructive.” The main topics included the situation on the battlefield and the decline of Russia’s economy.
Ukrainian President said this during a briefing in New York after his meeting with President Donald Trump, a Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“It was indeed a very good talk,” Zelensky noted.
According to him, the leaders discussed Ukraine’s counteroffensive in Donetsk region as well as the state of the Russian economy.
Zelensky emphasized that he would not disclose all the details of the conversation with Trump, but stressed it was “very constructive.”
As reported, the previous meeting between the Ukrainian and U.S. Presidents took place on August 18 in Washington, where Zelensky and several European leaders met with Trump to discuss a peaceful settlement of Russia’s war against Ukraine.
On August 19, Trump announced that his administration was working to arrange direct talks between Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin to achieve an agreement on ending the war.
On August 22, Zelensky said Russia was doing everything possible to prevent such a trilateral meeting from taking place.
