Stefanishyna presents copies of credentials, officially begins mission as Ukraine's ambassador to US
On Monday, Olga Stefanishyna presented copies of her credentials in Washington, formally beginning her mission as Ukraine's ambassador to the United States.
The Embassy of Ukraine in the U.S. reported this on its official Facebook page, according to Ukrinform.
"Today, Olga Stefanishyna had the honor of presenting copies of her credentials to Abby Jones, Principal Deputy Chief of Protocol at Blair House in Washington, DC. With this step, she officially begins her mission as Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States," the statement said.
The new ambassador stressed that she looks forward to working with American friends "to deepen our partnership and advance a just and lasting peace."
On Monday, Stefanishyna spent her first day at the Embassy of Ukraine in Washington, starting it with a moment of silence to honor the defenders who gave their lives for Ukraine's independence and freedom.
On August 27, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree appointing Stefanishyna as Ukraine's ambassador to the United States. She replaced Oksana Markarova at the post.
