Stefanishyna assumes duties as Ukraine's ambassador to US
Ukraine's Ambassador to the United States, Olga Stefanishyna, began her diplomatic mission in Washington on Monday, September 15, with a moment of silence in honor of the defenders who gave their lives for Ukraine's independence and freedom.
According to Ukrinform, she announced this on social media platform X.
Stefanishyna noted that, as she begins her mission as ambassador to the U.S., she carries with her the courage and resilience of the Ukrainian people.
"Today, together with the team of the Ukrainian Embassy in the U.S., we paused for a minute of silence to honor those who gave their lives for Ukraine's independence and freedom. It is because of their sacrifice that we continue diplomacy—defending sovereignty, strengthening partnerships, and pursuing a just and lasting peace," she wrote.
President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on August 27 that Stefanishyna had officially been appointed as Ukraine's new ambassador to the United States.
