Zelensky has first ever phone call with King of Bahrain

President Volodymyr Zelensky and King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain held the first-ever phone call in the history of bilateral relations between the two countries.

Zelensky said this in a post on his Facebook page, Ukrinform reports.

The heads of states discussed bilateral cooperation, global food security, and support for Ukraine’s Peace Formula.

 “This was the first conversation between the two heads of state in the history of bilateral relations. Last year, Bahrain's Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani paid his first visit to Ukraine,” Zelensky noted.

The President said he hopes that the contacts at the highest level will mark the beginning of a new chapter in the bilateral relations.

He thanked Bahrain for its participation in the earlier Peace Formula advisors’ meetings and invited Bahrain’s representative to participate in the next meeting in Davos.

Among other things, Zelensky briefed the Bahraini leader about Ukraine’s efforts to maintain global food stability.

As reported by Ukrinform, President Volodymyr Zelensky and the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Mishal al-Ahmad al-Sabah, discussed the prospects for cooperation in the energy and agricultural sectors.
