Forty-nine countries condemn Russia’s abuse of powers as UNSC permanent member

Forty-nine countries and the European Union have condemned Russia for the abuse of powers and privileges as a Permanent Member of the United Nations Security Council to spread disinformation about its widespread abduction and unlawful forced deportation of thousands of Ukrainian children.

The relevant joint statement was issued by these countries in response to Russia’s Arria-formula meeting on the unlawful forced deportation of children by the Russian Federation in Ukraine.

According to the statement, numerous credible sources have called attention to Russia’s unlawful forced deportation of children from within Ukraine to the Russian Federation.

“These reprehensible actions have taken place in the context of the Russian Federation’s full-scale invasion and illegal war of aggression against Ukraine, which we condemn unreservedly,” the statement reads.
