Poland comments on two main Russian propagandist narratives regarding Ukraine

Russia is conducting a propagandist campaign intended to present Poland as a potential aggressor towards neighboring countries, combining it with Moscow’s campaign against Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The relevant statement was made by Government Plenipotentiary for the Security of Information Space of the Republic of Poland Stanisław Żaryn, an Ukrinform correspondent reports, referring to Onet.pl.

“Russia continues to emphasize the thesis of ‘selling Ukraine’ to Poland by the President [of Ukraine – Ed.] in exchange for his personal security guarantees after the lost war,” Żaryn said.

In his words, the two narratives are constantly repeated by Russian politicians. In particular, Russia’s deputy chairman of the committee on foreign affairs Vladimir Dzhabarov threatened Poland with the ‘fourth partition’ if Warsaw ‘pursues an aggressive policy’ towards its neighbors and allegedly encroaches on Ukraine’s territory.

According to Żaryn, spokesperson for Russia’s Foreign Affairs Ministry Maria Zakharova speaks in a similar tone, spreading disinformation about Poland that has allegedly ‘started tactical preparations to annex western Ukraine’.

In terms of anti-Polish rhetoric, the Kremlin propaganda is being actively supported by Belarus, Żaryn added.
