EU agrees on 9th sanctions package against Russia

Permanent Representatives of the Governments of the Member States to the European Union reached an agreement on the next, ninth package of sanctions against Russia, which should be formally confirmed via written procedure tomorrow.

“COREPER Ambassadors agreed in principle on a sanctions package against Russia as part of the EU's ongoing support for Ukraine. The third Russia sanctions package negotiated under the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union should be confirmed via written procedure tomorrow,” Ambassador Edita Hrda, the Permanent Representative of the Czech Republic presiding over the Council of EU, posted on Twitter.

As reported, after the start of the Russian aggression against Ukraine, the EU has already imposed eight packages of individual and sectoral economic sanctions against the aggressor country, aiming to undermine the Kremlin's ability to finance its "war machine".
