Verkhovna Rada approves law on regions’ reconstruction and development

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has adopted the law "On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine Regarding the Basics of State Regional Policy and the Policy of Reconstruction of Regions and Territories" (draft law No. 5323).

Ukrinform reports this with reference to the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine.

In particular, the law provides for comprehensive improvement of the state regional policy and takes into account the challenges faced by communities and regions in connection with the military aggression of the Russian Federation.

According to Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksiy Chernyshov, the law introduced changes in key aspects of state regional policy — strategic planning, financing, institutional support and monitoring of regional development.

“The Ministry for Communities and Territories Development, together with the relevant committee of the Verkhovna Rada, have significantly improved the document, which now contains provisions on rebuilding territories affected by the aggression, as well as on ensuring the development of all regions and communities," Chernyshov emphasized.

He added that the document takes into account the European approach, in particular, regarding the definition of functional types of territories when planning their development.

As reported, according to the Ukrainian government, the Ukraine recovery plan is already estimated at $750 billion.
