President of Slovakia calls attention to human rights violations in occupied Crimea

The international community must do everything possible to guarantee people in many parts of the world, including the occupied Crimea, their fundamental rights, including the right to freedom of speech and assembly.

"We must make our own democracies more resilient and support those demanding their fundamental rights, including the freedom of speech and assembly, are respected… Citizens must exercise them freely in Belarus, where 650 people are prosecuted on political grounds, or in occupied Crimea, or Venezuela, Russia…” President of Slovakia Zuzana Caputová said while delivering a speech at the 76th session of the UN General Assembly on September 21, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

According to her, saving the planet also means respecting the international world order and the rule of law. Therefore, she called the violation of these rights a very dangerous phenomenon.
