PM Shmyhal: Visa-free travel to EU not cancelled

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal is convinced that there are no threats of cancellation of the visa-free entry to the EU for Ukrainian citizens.

"Visa-free travel [to the EU] is not cancelled. Our colleagues from the European Union and the United States of America openly declare the need for a transparent competition [for the appointment of a head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office]. We have complied with all the procedures prescribed by the rules, the legislation of Ukraine. Now the question of openness and transparency of the competition remains open. Let's see how the competition will be conducted," Shmyhal said during the hour of questions to the Government in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

Yesterday, September 17, Viola Von Cramon, a member of the European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs, said that Ukraine might lose its visa-free regime and financial assistance from the EU due to the situation around the appointment of a new head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.
