No alternative to Minsk agreements – Putin

The revision of the Minsk agreements can bring the situation in Donbas to a deadlock. The law on the special status of Donbas must be enshrined in the Constitution of Ukraine.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said this at his annual press conference in Moscow on Thursday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“If the revision of the Minsk agreements begins, the whole situation may end up at an impasse,” he said.

According to Putin, the law on the special status of Donbas is the key to the Minsk agreements. "The law on the special status of Donbas, which must be enshrined in the Ukrainian fundamental law, the Constitution, is the key to the Minsk Agreements," he said.

Also, Putin added that he did not see that the current leadership of Ukraine would like to do this. And he repeated the thesis that Kyiv, in the Kremlin’s opinion, had to hold a direct dialogue with representatives of ORDLO.

As reported, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky earlier stated that some aspects of the Minsk agreements should be changed.
