Stoltenberg: Russia is not NATO's enemy, but it attacked Ukraine

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg says NATO does not consider Russia an enemy.

"We don’t list foes. We don’t define Russia as an enemy. What we see is a more assertive Russia, which has used military force against neighbor Ukraine," Stoltenberg told CNN.

Stoltenberg noted that the Alliance does not divide the world into foes and friends.

"In uncertain times, we need strong international institutions like NATO," he said.

Earlier, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the Alliance did not see an improvement in relations with Russia, but it would continue to work on them.
