Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko has said that he is ready to stand surety for Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi.

He wrote this on his Facebook page.

"I came to Andriy Sadovyi for a court hearing. I appeal to the court with the request for stand surety for the Lviv mayor," Klitschko wrote.

On November 27, Ukraine's High Anti-Corruption Court began choosing a measure of restraint against Sadovyi.

Those present in the courtroom include Sadovyi, his wife Kateryna, lawyers and former MPs Oksana Syroid, Oleh Bereziuk and Tetiana Ostrikova. They announced that they intend to file a petition on standing surety for the Lviv mayor.

On November 21, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office served Sadovyi with a suspicion notice on abuse of power. The case concerns the allocation in 2015 of a land plot for the construction of an industrial park in the Lviv region.

The prosecutor's office said it would ask the court to select UAH 50 million bail as a measure of restraint against Sadovyi.
