President calls condition for holding bilateral negotiations with Russia

President Petro Poroshenko is convinced that the issues concerning Ukraine should be discussed only with the support and participation of international partners, because Russia recognizes great force only.

The president said this in an interview with Ukrainian TV channels on Wednesday, answering the question about the format of bilateral talks with Russia after the election, the press service of the head of stated reported.

"Can there be bilateral negotiations? Well, of course, we are a sovereign independent state. But will Ukraine's position be weaker if we go without the support of our international partners in the pro-Ukrainian coalition? Yes, obviously. Can we discuss, for example, immediate release of Ukrainian sailors? Can we discuss the freedom of navigation or the return of Ukrainian vessels? Yes, we can. But a comprehensive position must be discussed when we have a great power," the president said.

"That's why we are heading to NATO, because NATO is not every man for himself. NATO is when one for all and all for one. NATO is when 30 member states ensure the inviolability of borders," he stressed.

"Remember, if you did not watch Russian films carefully: Moscow does not believe in tears. Moscow recognizes only power. The power of the Ukrainian state, the power of the Ukrainian army, the power of the world coalition,” Poroshenko said.
