Poroshenko initiates setting up trust fund to restore Ukraine

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has put forward an initiative to set up a trust fund to restore Ukraine after military operations in country’s eastern regions.

Poroshenko stated this at the World Humanitarian Summit in Istanbul, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Ukraine wants to cooperate with the relevant international organizations and institutions to set up a multi-partner trust fund to support the efforts in Ukraine," Poroshenko said.

He also called on the international community "to help Ukraine in the post-conflict recovery period."

Ukrainian President stressed that "the country strongly supports the need to strengthen the United Nations Security Council, in particular, in the issue of timely response to the situations that violate the principles of humanitarian law."
