Juncker outlines flaws of Dutch referendum on Ukraine

“The scope of a continental problem”, which may be caused by a decision, was not taken into account during the holding of the Dutch referendum on the ratification of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement.

This opinion was expressed by European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, answering a question from Dutch parliamentarian Pieter Omtzigt at the PACE session in Strasbourg, a Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"The referendum in the Netherlands and its results are disappointing. It did not take into account the scope of a continental problem, which may be caused by such a decision on association with Ukraine. However, it is not an issue of the European Commission and the European Union, it is a problem of the Dutch government," he said.

Juncker did not respond to a question on whether the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement would be revised due to the results of the referendum in the Netherlands.
