Merkel: Sanctions against Russia should be extended
German Chancellor Angela Merkel considers it necessary to extend the sanctions against Russia and to achieve the implementation of the Minsk Agreements.
Merkel stated this at the Bundestag on Wednesday, on the eve of the EU summit in Brussels, an Ukrinform correspondent in Germany reports.
"The sanctions should be extended. However, our main task is to achieve the implementation of the Minsk Agreements," the Chancellor said.
Merkel recalled that the sanctions were linked to the implementation of the peace accords, reached in February this year. These arrangements "are not performed in full", she said.
The Head of the German Government also added that it was necessary to intensify the activities of the Trilateral Contact Group.
