Ukraine closes its airspace for Russia to avoid provocations – Yatsenyuk

The decision to close Ukrainian airspace for Russia is justified because of the national security of Ukraine.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“The decision on such a ban has been reached as a result of the significant worsening of military and external political situation. Russia might use the Ukrainian airspace for provocations. This is an issue of our country's national security - a response to the Russian Federation and its aggressive actions,” he said.

As earlier reported, the Ukrainian government closed its airspace for the Russian airlines, including transit flights.
