Efforts ongoing to extinguish forest fire in Polissia Nature Reserve in Zhytomyr region
Efforts are ongoing to extinguish a forest fire in the Polissia Nature Reserve in the Zhytomyr region, with rescuers monitoring smoldering hotspots using drones.
Ukraine's State Emergency Service (SES) announced this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.
Rescuers and forestry workers are currently extinguishing isolated areas of burning forest floor to prevent further spread of the fire.
To ensure continuous operations, personnel rotations have been carried out within the regional SES units.
The situation is also being monitored from the air using UAVs to detect possible smoldering hotspots.
"The situation is under control. Firefighting operations are ongoing," the SES said.
Earlier reports said that a large-scale forest fire covering an area of 1,200 hectares was also being extinguished in the exclusion zone in the Kyiv region.
