Two volunteer soldiers die while rescuing people in flooded Kherson region

Two soldiers with the Themis volunteer battalion died yesterday, June 7, rescuing people from the flood in Kherson region caused by the explosion at the Kakhovka HPP dam.

This was announced on Facebook by the head of the Svoboda movement, Oleh Tiahnybok, reports Ukrinform.

"Rescuing the people of Kherson from the flood caused by the explosion at the Kakhovka HPP, our comrade-in-arms from Svoboda, Volodymyr ‘Kabanchyk’ Kavulich, died,” the report reads.

Tiahnybok noted that the tragedy that took the lives of Volodymyr and his comrade, callsign Yuh, occurred in Kherson region, when the soldiers were on their way to help local residents. A strong current dragged their boat under the barge.
