Servicemen’s vehicle blew up on mine: one killed, one injured

Outside the village of Malynove in Stanychno Luhansk district, two soldiers drove the car over an explosive device. In the mine blast that followed  one of the soldiers was killed, the other was injured.

The press service of the Luhansk regional military-civilian administration reports.

"Yesterday, on November 22, outside the village of Malynove in Stanychno Luhansk district one serviceman was killed and another was injured. Moving along an unpaved road in a Volkswagen T4 car, they drove on an unknown explosive device-probably "a fougasse", resulting in one killed on the spot and another one was injured," a statement said.

The Lahansk governor Heorhy Tuka, the village of Malynove is located on the road to the pedestrian checkpoint crossing in the village of Stanytsia Luhanska, where hundreds of cars daily shuttle picking up relatives and friends people from the checkpoint. "I do not rule out the possibility that if the"fougasse" had hit a civilian car, the victims would have been many more," he noted.
