Shmyhal holds series of meetings with U.S. business representatives

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, during his visit to the United States, held meetings with representatives of Westinghouse, Cheniere Energy, GE Vernova, and Invenergy.

According to Ukrinform, Shmyhal provided details of the meetings on Telegram.

“I expressed gratitude to Dan Lipman, President of Global Business Initiatives at Westinghouse Electric Company, for the implementation of a unique project and exemplary cooperation. We discussed the development of joint projects. Agreements are already in place for the supply of reactors and long-term heat removal systems, as well as confirmed intentions to build new power units and localize the production of fuel assembly components in Ukraine,” Shmyhal wrote.

At a meeting with Anatol Feygin, Executive Vice President of Cheniere Energy, the parties discussed the potential to increase gas supplies to Ukraine and diversify routes to Europe. Shmyhal noted that the company is one of the leading producers and exporters of liquefied natural gas in the United States and has a successful track record of cooperation with Ukraine.

The First Deputy Prime Minister also met with Philippe Piron, CEO of GE Vernova's Electrification segment, and Roger Martella, Chief Corporate Officer. The discussions focused on the urgent needs of Ukraine’s energy sector: transformers, substation equipment, innovative solutions for grid stabilization, and gas turbines. Shmyhal emphasized Ukraine’s interest in concluding long-term contracts between GE Vernova and Naftogaz Group, as well as expanding cooperation in nuclear energy, renewable energy, and professional exchanges.

With Michael Polsky, Founder and CEO of Invenergy, Shmyhal discussed joint projects in the development of renewable energy sources.

As previously reported, during the Ukrainian delegation’s visit to the United States, a number of important agreements were reached with American companies regarding energy projects in Ukraine.
