Vinnytsia plans to install four more cogeneration units totaling 10 MW this year
This year, Vinnytsia plans to install four more cogeneration units with a total capacity of 10 MW.
This was reported to Ukrinform by Andrii Ocheretnyi, deputy mayor of Vinnytsia.
He noted that after the full-scale Russian invasion, the Vinnytsiamiskteploenergo municipal enterprise received cogeneration units on a grant basis, in particular from USAID, which provide electricity to city boiler rooms and enable centralized heat supply to Vinnytsia residents' homes.
Currently, the heat supply company operates cogeneration units with a total capacity of 5.3 MW to meet the needs of the community.

“In addition, in 2026, we expect to install four more 2.5 MW units, i.e., with a total capacity of 10 MW. This will enable them to operate even more stably and partially transfer electrical energy to those enterprises that, in our opinion, also need it,” said the deputy mayor.
Ocheretnyi also noted that currently in Ukraine, the implementation period for distributed energy projects has increased significantly due to high demand for solar and storage stations, as well as cogeneration plants.
“If in 2024 the waiting period for cogeneration equipment was 3-6 months, now it has increased to 12 months. That is, those who signed a contract in October 2025 will receive it only by the heating season of 2026-2027,” the official said.
As reported, Vinnytsia businesses have installed solar power stations with a total capacity of about 24 MW, investing UAH 500 million in distributed energy.
