Power outage schedules to be applied in five regions due to new enemy attacks on energy sector

As of the morning of March 10, consumers in five frontline regions of Ukraine are without electricity as a result of Russian attacks.

According to Ukrinform, the National Energy Company Ukrenergo stated this on Facebook.

"As a result of enemy attacks on the energy infrastructure of frontline regions, as of this morning there are consumers without electricity in the Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, and Sumy regions. Wherever security conditions allow, emergency repair work is already underway. Energy workers are doing everything possible to return the equipment damaged by the enemy to operation as quickly as possible," the statement says.

Due to the consequences of previous massive attacks on the energy sector, power limitation schedules are being applied for industry in some regions. In the evening hours, forced hourly outages are expected for all categories of consumers.

"Electricity consumption is showing a downward trend. Today, March 10, as of 09:30, its level was 4.4% lower than at the same time the previous day, on Monday," the statement notes. The reason for this is clear weather across Ukraine, which leads to high efficiency of household solar power stations and a corresponding reduction in electricity consumption from the general grid.

"Considering the weather conditions, it is advisable today to shift active electricity consumption to the period of the most efficient operation of solar power stations, from 11:00 to 16:00. During periods of forced hourly outages, please limit the use of high-power electrical appliances," Ukrenergo added.

As previously reported, President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law to improve competitive conditions for electricity production from alternative energy sources.
