EU develops €920M plan to help Ukraine prepare for next winter – von der Leyen

The European Union will help Ukraine prepare for the winter of 2026–2027 under a newly developed EUR 920 million plan.

The President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, Ukrinform reports.

"While we help you through this winter, we start preparing together with you for the next winter. We will work on a new energy plan for 26 and 27… It will include a package of EUR 920 million to stabilize Ukraine's energy system," she said.

She explained that the Brussels plan will ensure stable electricity supply across the country and promote the decentralization of renewable energy generation. It will also include the repair and modernization of the power grid and combined heat and power plants.

As previously reported, Ursula von der Leyen announced in Kyiv that Ukraine and its partners will hold a meeting of the Energy Coordination Group in March.
