Zelensky: Ukraine short of $750M for gas imports this heating season
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that Ukraine still lacks $750 million out of the $2 billion needed to import natural gas for the current heating season.
He said this at a briefing following a meeting with, among others, Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko and Energy Minister Svitlana Grynchuk, according to an Ukrinform correspondent:
"As of today, we understand that we are short of about $750 million out of the $2 billion we need for gas. [European Commission] President Ursula von der Leyen has just said that we will receive another EUR 127 million in support. We are grateful for that," Zelensky said.
He added that Ukraine's energy minister also met with her counterparts from the G7 countries.
"We have support everywhere – from Canada, Italy, Germany, and other nations," Zelensky said.
On October 23, the Cabinet of Ministers allocated UAH 8.4 billion from the state budget's reserve fund to ensure the stable 2025-2026 heating season.
