Ukraine can export another 40M t of grains and oilseeds in current season - expert

Ukraine can export another 36-40 million tonnes of grains and oilseeds in the current marketing year (MY).

Denys Marchuk, Deputy Chairman of the Ukrainian Agri Council, stated this at a briefing at Media Center Ukraine-Ukrinform.

"In the next six months, we need to export about 36-40 million tonnes (of grains and oilseeds), because over the first half of the year, we managed to export a little more than 20 million tonnes, while out total export potential is more than 60 million tonnes for this season. These are about 50 million tonnes of grains and about 10 million tonnes of oilseeds," he said.

Marchuk noted that in December, Ukraine exported more than 6 million tonnes of agricultural products, including 4.8 million tonnes exported through the seaports of Odesa region.

According to the expert, in 20 days of January this year, Ukraine has already exported more than 2 million tonnes of agricultural products through the seaports of Odesa region.

As reported by Ukrinform, in the first half of the 2023/24 marketing year, Ukraine exported 31 million tonnes of various types of agricultural products, which is 17% less than in the same period last season.
