Russians attack energy facilities in three regions, causing power outages

As of the morning of February 11, Russian attacks have left consumers without electricity in three regions of Ukraine.

According to Ukrinform, this was reported by Ukraine’s national power grid operator, Ukrenergo, on Facebook.

“As a result of hostilities and targeted enemy strikes on energy infrastructure, new power outages have been recorded this morning in the Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kharkiv regions. Emergency repair and restoration work is being carried out in line with security requirements. Power engineers are doing everything possible to return damaged equipment to operation as quickly as possible,” the statement said.

It is noted that due to the consequences of previous large-scale attacks, emergency power outages are being applied in parts of some regions. In the rest of the country, capacity limitation schedules for industry and hourly blackout schedules for household consumers remain in effect.

Electricity consumption as of 9:30 on Wednesday was 2.1% lower than the previous day, which Ukrenergo said was the result of forced increases in power outages in certain regions.

“The need for energy conservation remains throughout the entire day. Please limit the use of high-power electrical appliances as much as possible. If possible, shift energy-intensive activities to nighttime hours – after 23:00,” Ukrenergo advised.

As previously reported, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the most difficult situation in the energy sector remains in Kyiv. In the capital, more than 1,400 buildings are still without heating, and the government is initiating an increase in the scope of the heating aid package program.
