South Korea to increase assistance to Ukraine to $150M

The Republic of Korea will increase assistance to Ukraine to $150 million this year.

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol said this in a statement to the media together with President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Last year, the government of the Republic of Korea allocated $100 million to support Ukraine. This year, this support will amount to 150 million," Yoon said.

He added that Korea would also consider the possibility of the World Bank providing $10 million in support for Ukraine.

The President of Korea added that during the negotiations with Volodymyr Zelensky, they focused on the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine and cooperation in this area. In particular, Korea plans to allocate funds for the restoration of infrastructure, assistance to entrepreneurship, and reconstruction of the education system.

As reported by Ukrinform, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol arrived in Ukraine on an unannounced visit. Together with his wife, he visited Bucha and Irpin in Kyiv region, and honored the memory of Ukrainian fallen soldiers.
