Czechia sends $1M for training of Ukrainian civil aviation pilots

This year, the Czech Republic will allocate CZK 22 million (over $1 million) to cover tuition for up to 25 students of Ukraine's National Aviation University.

This was reported by Radio Prague International, Ukrinform saw.

The government approved the relevant proposal on Wednesday, Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky told a press conference.

The money will come from the program of humanitarian and economic aid to Ukraine, which was approved by the government in 2022. As part of the program, the Czech Republic has committed to annually allocate half a billion korunas ($23.5 million) in the period 2023-2025.

It is specified that students who have completed training in the Czech Republic will be ready to operate civil aviation aircraft as co-pilots.

"The project will contribute to the speedy restoration of air traffic and, therefore, the country’s overall recovery," the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, President Petr Pavel of the Czech Republic stated that the country was ready to provide assistance to Ukraine in reconstruction and preparation for NATO membership.
