PM Shmyhal outlines Ukraine’s achievements after joining ENTSO-E

On March 16, 2022, Ukraine became part of the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E).

The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Today is exactly one year since Ukraine became part of ENTSO-E. The energy visa-free regime provided significant support to us from European partners and helped us to withstand missile attacks,” Shmyhal wrote.

In his words, the synchronization of the energy systems of Ukraine and the EU is also a major contribution to Europe’s common energy security.

“We have forever deprived Russia of its influence on our country’s energy system,” Shmyhal emphasized.

According to Shmyhal, access to the large European market enabled Ukrainian energy companies to raise funds and prepare for the challenging heating season, and allowed Ukrainian industrial enterprise to continue operation even amid the capacity deficit in the energy system, which had been caused by Russian attacks.
