Ukraine, Italy to launch new bilateral energy partnership - Galushchenko

Ukraine and Italy are planning to launch a new bilateral energy partnership aimed at contributing to the implementation of modern energy-efficient and carbon-free technologies and projects in the course of post-war reconstruction of Ukraine.

These issues were discussed during an online meeting between Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko and Minister of Environment and Energy Security of Italy Pichetto Fratin, Ukrinform reports with reference to the ministry's website.

"I am especially grateful for the Italian government’s latest decision to allocate EUR 10 million for assistance to Ukraine. This is a significant contribution to the support of our country in these difficult times, when Russia does not stop its barbaric actions and has been shelling the civilian energy infrastructure of Ukraine for more than three months," Galushchenko said.

He thanked the Italian side for the assistance provided to Ukraine in restoration and repair works.

In turn, Pichetto Fratin expressed full support and solidarity with the people of Ukraine in the fight against the Russian aggression. He assured that Italy would continue to support Ukraine, including Ukraine’s recovery and post-war reconstruction.

In particular, the Italian side expressed readiness to cooperate on projects related to decarbonization, sustainable development and energy efficiency.

During the meeting, the ministers also discussed the initiative to sign a memorandum of cooperation to strengthen the cooperation of both ministries in achieving the goals of climate neutrality and implementing sustainable development projects.
