Ukrainian energy system operates stably – Shmyhal

The Ukrainian energy system has already stabilized, but Ukrainians should reduce electricity consumption during peak hours.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said this at a government meeting on Friday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Yesterday (October 13 - ed.) we managed to stabilize electricity supply throughout the country after attacks by Russian terrorists on our energy infrastructure on October 10-12," Shmyhal said.

He emphasized that now the energy system is working stably, but the carrying capacity of major energy networks has been reduced due to numerous damages caused by Russia’s missile attacks. According to Shmyhal, power companies need time to resume electricity supply to all consumers. He also called on citizens to voluntarily reduce consumption during the day, especially, during the morning and evening peaks of consumption.

He also thanked Ukrainian power engineers for their professionalism and courage.

As reported by Ukrinform, on the morning of October 10, Russia launched a massive missile attack on Ukraine’s territory. As a result of the shelling, about 70 objects have been damaged, including 29 critical infrastructure facilities. On October 11, the enemy again struck the energy infrastructure in several regions.
