NBU predicts inflation in Ukraine will slow by year-end

Inflation in Ukraine will slow to single-digit levels at the end of this year and will gradually return to 5% next year, the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has said.

According to an Ukrinform correspondent, NBU governor Kyrylo Shevchenko said this at a briefing on Thursday, September 9.

"Inflation will slow to single-digit levels at the end of 2021 and will gradually return to the target of 5% in 2022," Shevchenko said.

According to him, inflation will slow due to last year's low base of comparison, the correction of world commodity prices and the strengthening of the NBU's monetary policy.

The Ministry of Finance expects inflation not to exceed 10% at the end of the year.
