Combating climate change: G7 Ambassadors call on Ukraine to confirm second NDC

G7 Ambassadors call on Ukraine to confirm the second Nationally Determined Contribution under the Paris Agreement by the end of July.

“On climate change, ahead of COP26 [26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties], they [G7 Ambassadors] encouraged Ukraine to confirm an ambitious second Nationally Determined Contribution by end July,” UK Presidency of the G7 Ambassadors’ Support Group for Ukraine posted on Twitter on June 11.

Ambassadors informed that they had met with Energy Minister Halushchenko to discuss plans for energy sector reforms, increased energy security, and stabilising and strengthening Ukraine’s use of renewable energy.

They also underlined the importance of good corporate governance as a prerequisite for a competitive, liberalised energy market.

As reported, Halushchenko met with the leadership of the G7 diplomatic missions and the EU Delegation on Thursday.

Ukraine will present its second Nationally Determined Contribution under the Paris Agreement at the UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow this autumn. The UN hopes that Ukraine will increase its contribution.
