Ukraine wants to increase agricultural exports to Tajikistan – Economy Ministry

Ukraine is interested in strengthening bilateral trade and economic relations and increasing export supplies of agricultural products to the Tajik market.

These issues were discussed during a meeting of Minister for Economy, Trade and Agriculture Development of Ukraine Ihor Petrashko with Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to Ukraine Nazrizoda Davlatali, Ukrinform reports referring to the press service of the Economy Ministry.

"Ukraine views Tajikistan as an important partner in the Central Asian region. We are interested in increasing bilateral trade turnover between our countries, implementing joint projects in various fields, updating the bilateral intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the field of standardization, metrology and certification, and strengthening work within the intergovernmental commission," Petrashko said.

He noted that Ukraine has a significant potential for increasing bilateral trade in agricultural products with the Republic of Tajikistan. In particular, Ukrainian products of processing, confectionery and oil and fat industries have high competitive advantages. Ukraine is ready for an in-depth dialogue on expanding the range of supplies of Ukrainian food products to the Tajik market.

The minister stressed the importance of maintaining business contacts, namely, joint business forums, round tables, seminars, trade missions, exhibitions, fairs and more.

As reported, trade turnover between Ukraine and the Republic of Tajikistan in 2020 amounted to USD 24.9 million. Ukraine's exports to Tajikistan reached USD 24.1 million last year.
