PM Svyrydenko attends U.S.-Ukraine Forum in Washington
Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko, together with her government team, has begun a working visit to Washington.
She announced this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.
“I took part in the opening of the U.S.-Ukraine Partnership Forum, held on the sidelines of the Spring Meetings of the IMF and the World Bank. I met with executives of leading American companies. We discussed the state of Ukraine’s economy amid constant attacks, as well as opportunities for investment and partnership,” Svyrydenko said.
According to her, the U.S.-Ukraine Recovery Investment Fund is expected to become an effective tool for attracting private capital. The fund is already operational – its first investment has been approved, and more than 200 applications are currently under review.
The Prime Minister also outlined resilience plans.
“We are working on a strategic transformation of the energy system, preparing for winter and potential challenges from the enemy. Our priorities include protecting energy facilities, expanding distributed generation, ensuring backup power for heating and water supply, and decentralizing heat supply,” Svyrydenko emphasized.
The government has already allocated over UAH 22 billion for urgent work on protecting and connecting cogeneration units in communities. Plans also include securing at least 4 GW of additional distributed generation capacity nationwide. Continued support from international partners – both financial and in the form of equipment – remains crucial for implementing these resilience measures.
“We also invite partners to collaborate on joint energy projects. Ukraine is a reliable partner for developing new logistics routes for energy supplies and offers mutually beneficial use of its underground gas storage facilities. I am grateful to American businesses for their willingness to strengthen economic and investment cooperation,” Svyrydenko added.
As previously reported by Ukrinform, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that protection must be restored at 368 energy infrastructure facilities before winter. He noted delays in preparations for the next season in several regions, including Kyiv.
