Urusky expects government to approve concept of new space program by year-end

The Ministry of Strategic Industries has submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers a concept of the National Targeted Scientific and Technical Space Program for 2021-2025.

Deputy Prime Minister - Minister for Strategic Industries Oleh Urusky said this in an interview with Radio Svoboda, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"We have now submitted it [to the Cabinet of Ministers for consideration]. And I think that this year we will approve the concept," Urusky said.

He added that this would allow submitting this national space program to the Verkhovna Rada in early 2021.

According to Urusky, UAH 90 million has been allocated for the development of the space industry in Ukraine in 2020. He has also noted that these funds are not enough for the full development of the industry, and the new program provides for attracting foreign investment.

As reported by Ukrinform, the Ministry of Strategic Industries began to develop the first in three years the National Targeted Scientific and Technical Space Program of Ukraine for 2021-2025 in October 2020.
