NBU Council expresses no confidence in two deputy governors

The Council of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) announced a reprimand and expressed no confidence in NBU First Deputy Governor Kateryna Rozhkova and NBU Deputy Governor Dmytro Solohub.

Chairman of the NBU Council Bohdan Danylyshyn wrote about this on his Facebook page following a meeting of the NBU Council, Ukrinform reports.

"[We have decided] to reprimand First Deputy Governor of NBU Kateryna Rozhkova and Deputy Governor of NBU Dmytro Solohub. To express no confidence in First Deputy Governor of NBU Kateryna Rozhkova and Deputy Governor of NBU Dmytro Solohub,” reads a report.

As reported by Ukrinform, on July 1, Yakiv Smolii, a former governor of the National Bank, filed a resignation letter to President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky due to "systematic political pressure”.

On July 16, 2020, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine appointed Kyrylo Shevchenko as new governor of the National Bank on the proposal of the President of Ukraine.

On July 6, 2020, the Board of the National Bank didn’t support an appointment of Oleh Churiy as deputy governor of the National Bank. On July 22, he was dismissed due to the expiration of his term of service.

On July 31, 2020, the Council of the National Bank dismissed Serhiy Kholod from the post of deputy governor of the National Bank. Another Deputy Governor Roman Borysenko was dismissed on August 26.

Instead, Yuriy Heletiy, Oleksii Shaban and Yaroslav Matuzka, who were nominated by the new NBU governor, were appointed as deputy governors of the National Bank.
