NBU keeps discount rate unchanged at 6%

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has decided to leave the discount rate unchanged at the level of 6% per annum, the central bank’s press service reports.

"The Board of the National Bank has decided to keep the discount rate unchanged at 6% per annum," reads the report.

It is noted that this decision will restrain price growth as the economy recovers in 2021–2022, by leaving room for further decreasing the cost of credit to one-digit levels.

As reported by Ukrinform, the NBU Board decided to cut the discount rate to 6% on June 12, 2020. Previously, the discount rate was reduced to 8% in April, to 10% in March, to 11% in January.
