AFU engineering units clear 157 hectares of farmland in April
In April, engineering units of the Support Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine cleared 157 hectares of agricultural land and about 35 hectares of forest from explosive devices.
Maksym Kravchuk, spokesperson for the Support Forces, told Ukrinform that over the month, sappers detected and neutralized a total of 1,919 explosive devices. The Support Forces noted that current demining efforts are concentrated in Chernihiv and Kherson regions.
Specialists from the engineering troops work daily to restore safety in liberated territories—clearing critical infrastructure, fields, roads, forest belts, and water bodies of explosive hazards. Canine units are actively involved in rapid response operations, effectively detecting threats in areas where machinery use is limited or impossible.
During extensive demining operations, specialists employ modern military equipment, including Scanjack, Bozena 5, Hydrema, and GCS‑200 systems, which significantly enhance safety for personnel and accelerate task completion.
Since the beginning of this year, sappers of the Support Forces have already cleared 540.75 hectares of farmland and 104.54 hectares of forest, neutralizing 2,277 explosive devices.
As Ukrinform previously reported, engineering troops of the Support Forces neutralized a total of 960,767 explosive devices in 2025.
