Ukrainian infrastructure minister, Azerbaijani ambassador discuss prospects for cooperation
Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Vladyslav Kryklii has held a working meeting with Azerbaijani Ambassador to Ukraine Elmira Akhundova in Kyiv, the Ukrainian Infrastructure Ministry's press service has reported.
According to the report, the parties discussed the state of and prospects for further cooperation between the two countries in various areas.
"Vladyslav Kryklii stressed that Ukraine highly values friendly relations with Azerbaijan and is interested in developing mutually beneficial cooperation, in particular, in the field of trade and transport," the report said.
The official praised the results of the 12th meeting of the joint Ukrainian-Azerbaijani intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, which took place in Kyiv on January 30-31, 2020. He also recalled that in order to fulfill the agreements reached during the commission meeting, the ministry had sent for consideration by the Azerbaijani side a number of infrastructure projects in the field of transport for their possible implementation at the expense of a related state target loan from Azerbaijan.
Kryklii said Ukraine expected a positive decision from the Azerbaijani side and was ready to provide all necessary additional information on these projects.
He said that Ukraine expressed its interest in increasing the number of permits, liberalization or free access to the market of road transport services and was ready to hold a regular meeting of the joint commission on international road transport to discuss this issue.
The parties also discussed the possibility of resuming direct scheduled air services between the two countries.
