Finance Ministry reduces expenditure on cultural events

The Ministry of Finance of Ukraine reduces expenditure on holding of festivals, forums, cultural events, salaries of state officials and non-priority spending in the state budget for 2020.

"We have reduced expenditure on festivals, forums, cultural events, some sports events, statistical surveys, business trips. We have also partially decreased public sector wages, as well as non-priority capital expenditures," Finance Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Marchenko said at a briefing after the Cabinet’s meeting, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

Ukraine needs IMF support now as it is not only a resource for the budget but also a positive signal for other lenders, the minister noted.

On March 30, the Verkhovna Rada sent the amendments to the state budget for 2020, which proposed to reduce the revenue side by UAH 122.9 billion and increase the expenditure side by UAH 79.2 billion, to repeated first reading.
