Ukraine and China interested in strategic partnership development

Ukraine and China are interested in developing and strengthening strategic partnership, in particular in the context of implementation of the One Belt One Road initiative.

This was discussed during the phone conversation between Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba and Minister of Foreign Affairs of China Wang Yi, the press service of Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry informs.

“Ukraine is interested in developing strategic partnership with China. You and I have every opportunity to fill it with ambitious projects that will lead to a meeting of leaders of our states,” Kuleba stressed.

The Chinese foreign minister reiterated his readiness to develop and strengthen strategic partnership with Ukraine, in particular in the context of the One Belt One Road initiative. Wang Yi underscored the enormous potential of Ukraine-China cooperation.

Last year, China became the largest trading partner of Ukraine as the bilateral trade reached a record $12.8 billion.

Earlier, Minister Kuleba stressed that Ukraine had significant potential for developing its economy as part of the One Belt One Road initiative, including the transit of Chinese goods to EU countries, China's investments in the development of Ukrainian industry, production of goods for the domestic and EU markets in the territory of Ukraine.
