Ukraine exports 16 mln tonnes of wheat over six months – expert

In the first half of the 2019/2020 marketing year, Ukraine exported about 16 million tonnes of wheat, Director General of UkrAgroConsult consulting agency Serhiy Feofilov has stated.

"In the first half of the year, we had a sharp increase in wheat exports. During the first six months, wheat exports amounted to slightly less than 16 million tonnes. This is definitely a record," Feofilov said at Agribusiness Wisdom Summit in Kyiv, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to him, the main buyers were Indonesia, countries of Southeast Asia, Turkey, and China.

Such a growth in wheat exports, according to the expert, was also due to an increase in the quality of Ukrainian wheat grain.

As UkrAgroConsult reported, as of February 21, 2020, Ukraine exported 16.314 million tonnes of wheat, which is 3.998 million tonnes more than on the same day of the 2018/2019 marketing year.
