Ukraine wants to unite waterways from the Black Sea to the Baltic Sea

The Ukrainian authorities are currently considering a project to unite the waterways from the Black Sea to the Baltic Sea.

"We also have a couple of very ambitious infrastructure projects that we have already started to discuss. We need to try to link by water, for example, the Baltic Sea and the Black Sea. This is absolutely real. There are forty waterways that need to be negotiated with Belarus and Poland. "We need to build a constructive relationship to reach this goal and we have already started to do that," Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Honcharuk said at the 16th Yalta European Strategy (YES) Annual Meeting "Happiness Now. New Approaches for a World in Crisis", which takes place in Kyiv on September 12-14, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to him, the Government is ready to move beyond the boundaries the country existed before and try to consider new opportunities that will allow Ukraine to become stronger.

At the same time, Honcharuk called on his compatriots to take off their “rose-coloured glasses.”

"We as a country need to move away from romantic perceptions of the world, thinking that someone will protect our borders doing harm to themselves. We need to make a sober estimate of the world. Each country will first and foremost protect its business, its investors, its citizens, its borders. We have to do the same. We should build our plans, realizing this fact," the Prime Minister emphasized.
